Home Sweet Home

Packing up the crates We're back in the States! I love America! It's great to be back at the OTC. I'm excited to see all the national team girls that went on tour in October. We got in pretty late, so I haven't seen anyone yet. I don't plan on unpacking anytime soon either. I have to admit I'm looking forward to April when I head back to Dallas and live in one place for more than a few weeks at a time. I haven't fully unpacked my bags for weeks. We'll have to move again in 2 weeks, so I'll live out of a suitcase for the rest of the season most likely. Oh, the wonderful nomadic life I lead! Wouldn't change a thing! I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has cheered me on these last few weeks. I love hearing all the stories of people yelling at their computers for Megan and I. (Yes, Julie, this definitely includes you. Katy recounted the whole story.) I still have to pinch myself when I realize I just got to compete in 2 World Cup rac

Go Time!

It's almost race day! Megan & I are the 16th sled off tomorrow (last sled of the first heat). You can watch it live at 2 pm Mountain time on Feb 10. The second heat will go off sometime around 3:30ish I think. Here's the link: http://eurovision.digotel.com/fibt/index.html It's the same website as last time. If you miss the race live, they post the recording, so you can still catch me later. The 2-man races are at 6pm, so we'll actually get to watch our men and cheer them on. So excited! We didn't get to see them race in Whistler, and I just love cheering on Team USA. (Cheesy, I know. But it's still true.) Then we'll pack the crate and our bags for our trip back to the States. So excited for the cafeteria! Free food already prepared for me. Brilliant! I'll miss this hotel bed though.

Crazy Awesome!!!!

I found this picture of Facebook. (Yes Ben, I stole them from an unsuspecting bobsledder. Thanks!) Such an amazing shot of the Whistler Plaza with the mountains. Wow! What an amazing experience this whole trip has been. I couldn't have dreamed of all this when I headed to Lake Placid in October. I didn't even know if I'd make the team. And this week I competed in my first World Cup race. Crazy awesome! I had a talk with Heath (Australian men's team driver) in the novice start house when we got here about how opportunistic this sport is. Just keep showing up and getting better everyday because you never know when a spot will open up that you're there to fill. If I hadn't committed to this whole process and worked hard to learn all I could this season, I wouldn't be on this trip competing with the best in the world. I know I have a very long way to go, but this chance to compete makes me want to train that much harder in the off season. If you missed th

Megan & I during our week of official training in Whistler Megan & I will be racing in our first World Cup race! This is her first World Cup as a pilot and mine as a brakeman. So pumped!!! You can watch it live at 6:30 pm Pacific time on Feb 2. Here's the link: http://eurovision.digotel.com/fibt/index.html If that doesn't work, go to www.fibt.com and click on the FIBT Live TV link. If you miss the race live, they post the recording, so you can still catch me later. This has been a crazy 18 days in Whistler, but it's been an amazing experience. Can't wait to tell you all about race day! Check back later this weekend for a race recap. We're headed to Calgary Friday for another week of training and racing, then we're back to Lake Placid in time to see the World Championships. What an adventure!
