About

Hey Y'all! Welcome to my world. I'm so happy you're here. Grab a snack, take a seat, and let me introduce myself.

I'm Nicole. I like to bobsled, write, adventure, cook, read, work out, and did I mention eating? It's one of my favorite things. The gym is where I spend hours and hours of time when I'm not traveling to slide down icy hills across the world. I live out of a suitcase about 7 months of the year. When I'm not traveling, my home base in Dallas, TX.

About me? I can't pick a favorite dessert or movie. There are just too many wonderful options out there. I am an avid reader, movie quoter, and Christ follower. Give me a fully stocked kitchen, and I'll be happy as a clam (although I don't like clams). I'm a baking addict who likes to dabble in creative cooking. Bobsled and engineering have so many rules you have to follow to keep everyone safe. The kitchen and this blog are where I get to be creative. Nights spent around the table laughing with family and friends make my heart sing.

I was born and raised by my spectacularly awesome parents in Kansas, where I was an honor student and athlete. Spent 5 years at Kansas State University getting a bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering and competing on women's rowing team. I will be forever grateful for my time learning from Coach Sweeney and the opportunity and scholarships sport offered me to continue my education. I started putting that degree to use after graduation by moving to Dallas for a job with AOS Engineering. 2011 was when I joined the USA bobsled team and have been pursuing my Olympic dreams with a part time engineering job ever since.

About Peace Be The Journey

Ever since I was a little girl, I have LOVED the Olympics. As a family, we would watch hours and hours of footage and tape everything we missed during those few weeks of heaven every two years. I didn't care what sport I played, I just wanted to be a part of the Olympics. Now I'm chasing my dream. I started this blog to document my journey to make the USA bobsled team back in 2010. After graduating from college and starting life in the "real world" at AOS Engineering, I found myself on this grand adventure pursuing my Olympic dream.

I became involved with the sport of bobsled following the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. I wasn't ready to be done with sports after college and saw most of the Olympians competing in bobsled were cross-over athletes from other collegiate sports. That last semester of college, I researched the sport and sent in a sports resume on the United States Bobsled and Skeleton Federation (USABS) website. I failed on my first attempt to make the team, but after a year of training, I tried again. Much improved, they invited to the 2011 National Push Championships in Lake Placid, New York. And the rest is history. I've documented my time on the team and you can read about the whole thing on this blog.
