Happy Memorial Day! Thank you to anyone who has served or country and my condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one. I truly appreciate your dedication and am ever grateful for the freedom you've sacrificed so dearly for. Let us never forget all those amazing men and women who protect us. I couldn't start this post without recognizing the heroes who go to work for us everyday. I don't have anything that measures up to that in my small corner of the world, but I'll get to what this blog is all about. 19 days and counting. That's about the extent of my big updates. I have thoroughly enjoyed my Memorial Day weekend. I didn't have to do anything or go anywhere, and it was awesome! I went to the pool, slept in, had a picnic, and enjoyed life. In other news, I am always astonished at how small the world is. The video I posted last week of the girl doing power cleans was one I randomly found on YouTube. May-day!

Mayday! Mayday! 24 days until the combine! The days just keep dwindling down. I've get three weeks to get bigger, faster, stronger, and then a week of recovery. It's not that far away. I was having a conversation with a friend from church two weeks ago about the upcoming tryout. After I explained how the combine worked, she said, "Wow! You're whole life could change on June 18." Her remark wasn't anything special during our conversation, but it really stuck with me. Later that week I started to panic. "My whole life could change! That's crazy! What am I going to be doing in a month? Where will I be? I have no idea what happens if I do well. I'm just flying by the seat of my pants here..." This went on for about five minutes, then I finally calmed down and started to think rationally. Making the team is the goal; that's the whole point of all this work. Life will change, yes, but that's part of the deal. I have to say thank you to Ha

Bungee Run

Now that I know the combine is June 18, this was the week I started going to Zoom more often. I did a sprint and lifting session on Monday. Lifting and jumping on Tuesday, and another sprint and lifting session on Friday. Monday and Tuesday weren't all that bad. I actually really looked forward to Tuesday's workout. It's only the second time I've been to Zoom and not had to do a sprint workout. That was really nice! Then Friday rolled around... I was again subjected to the bungee run workout on Friday. I did several runs at a 30 degree incline with weights in my hands. Then out came the bungees. Imagine these kids from the video running uphill at a 40 degree angle at about 3/4 of the way down their run for 8 secondes. That's what I did. I did get to hold onto the bar for those. Thank goodness! At least I didn't get snapped like this poor kid! Ouch! After that, I had 4 to 6 second runs at a 40 degree angle. Katelyn was definitely holding me on the treadmill
