The Olympics Are Coming!

Image
I've been watching tons of Olympic trials coverage, and I can't wait for July 27th to get here! I've heard so many great stories already. Here are a few of my favorites: Dara Torres 5-time Olympic swimmer, mother, model, TV personality, and motivational speaker. And if that wasn't enough, she's swimming this week for a sixth Olympic berth at age 45. WHAT?!?! (PS. If you didn't catch the math, that means her first Olympic race was in 1984. As in 28 years ago. As in before I was born. Beastmode!) Basically, she's my hero. Through it all, "I still have a passion for the sport of swimming," she said. "I have so many people come up to me and say I'm inspiring them to do things that they thought they couldn't do because they were too old, or that they put off because they couldn't find a balance in their life to do it," Torres said. Well, she's inspiring me! I want to have that competitive spirit at her age. So amazing!

American Ninja Warrior

I wish I was awesome enough to be on American Ninja Warrior! (This is what I do on Monday nights after a workout: eat dinner and watch Ninja Warrior on NBC). I'd need man arms, to be awesome at rock climbing, and get into parkour or gynmastics. Seeing as none of these things are going to happen, I'd say my chances are really slim.  I'd need an arm transplant, so I'd look like Hulk Hogan. The proportions just wouldn't be right. I've watched Ninja Warrior for years, and to be honest, the original is still my favorite. Here's a clip of Makoto Nagano tearing it up the season he made it all the way. Crazy impressive! Get to the end and watch Stage 4 rope climb of Mt. Midoriyama and you'll really understand why I'd need Hulk Hogan arms. I'd definitely have to go for the women's version of the show. If only I was a tiny gymnast like Ayako Miyake... I'd look like a lumbering giant next to her! There aren't as many crazy obstacles

Just Do It

So, I know it's been forever again. I apologize. My family continues to remind me to post something, but alas, I have not listened to their requests until now. I've decided to just write a little blurb whenever I feel like writing this summer. After a season of spectacular stories and legendary pictures, nothing seems post worthy. And I tend to wait too long, then there's so much to write about that I get overwhelmed and just don't write anything. No longer. You can expect little paragraph posts for the next few months, so check back however sporadically you choose. It shouldn't take you long to catch up. So here are the few things I have to say this week: 1. I have decided to attend the Minneapolis combine in a month. It will be nice just to see where I am in my training, and I have to admit, I'm pretty excited. I'm feeling much stronger and faster than I did at this time last summer. I figure that if I pass (fingers crossed) it will be a huge weight of
